Me and my friend liked the same boy.?

I started chatting to a guy on facebook when he added me a few months back, he was in the year above and i knew he knew some of my friends in his year so i said he should come and see us all sometime, he did and we got along really well and he asked me to come and see his drama performance, i did and he got me involved in a few of the games, he carried on coming hanging around with us and i started to like him, but so did two of my friends so i kept quiet, my two friends fell out and one told him how she felt and he said he didn't feel the same way and then he stopped talking to me aswell, i don't understand why, my friend who he speaks to said that she think's he may have liked me as he spoke to me more often then and he came to see me at dinner. I got over him and then i recently saw him again and regret loosing him as a friend as he was a really nice person, i don't know what to do, incase he dislikes me or something.
