Can a 7 in a half month old baby understand?

I was wondering at what age a baby can understand basic things. The reason I ask is because my son has a tendency to do things that we dislike and we tell him no, yet he continues to do them. For example he has a bad habit of grabbing his penis when his diaper is off. Now I know it will take him some times to comprehend no, but we say it firmly and move is hand away, but he starts grabbing again. No matter how many times I say no, he keep going at it until I have to pin his arms down while changing his diaper. He also has a bad habit of scratching his head. The thing is that he scratches it really bad, I mean to the pt of bleeding. We've tried lotions and everything suggested by the pediatrician but it does not work. He does not seem to have dry skin, so we assume he does this when he is sleepy or just plain stressed. When he does this we will tell him no, but he continues doing it. My question is if my son understands no but ignores or is it that he just does not understand what I am saying. I would think that when I move his hand from his penis and keep saying no firmly, he's be able to get it but he just keeps doing what he wants. Any suggestions?

How do i deal with this clingy friend of mine?

i have this friend who seems to be overly immature (we're both 16) and is super clingy (unfortunately to me). she moved to my middle school in the 7th grade, she didnt have friends yet, so my close friend who happens to be a very sociable and bubbly person befriended her so she would get used to the new school.. for the following two years, we became the-three-musketeers sort of thing, always seen together everywhere & very close.. here's the thing, i'm more of an introvert, i prefer watching a movie at home on a saturday night rather than going out partying, while my other bestie who's the sociable one happens to be the exact opposite, being the life of any party and an easy person to talk to.. and the new girl at first was quiet (i guess thats typical for newcomers in any school) then gradually became louder in an annoying and immature way (eg, she would poke someone's *** as a way of greeting, constantly bothering someone particularty when they're busy if she's bored).. anyhoo, we get along well with each other in spite of our diverse ways.. i do realise that we make a unique combo of friends and i appreciate it a lot, actually, in thinking that most of the girls at the time were a bunch of sluts trying to get attention lol XD and we werent, we were always up to the randomest stuff..then last year, the sociable friend moved somewhere else cuz of some of her family stuff, which left me and her in our used to be trio.. and somehow after that, her inner annoyingness and immaturity came to live. she got freakin annoying. i can swear that everyone was hating her for that. one thing i loved about her was about her randomness cuz thats what we have in common, but too much often does she becomes overly immature cuz of that. the worst part is that she is super clingy to me, i undrstand cuz i was one of her first close friends in here.. she refuses to leave me alone, gets mad when i go out with other friends, even talk to other people for too long :/ i get that i might be her only super close friend, but i just cant stand the fact that she's suffocating me by clinging on to me literally 24/7!!! Your mom is a bit bitter because she's been single forever, but also because she's your mom. She worries about your safety because she loves you. It's why she asks you what you'd do in certain scenarios. I know it's annoying. And yes, she's going about it the wrong way, but I'm guessing you want some peace. If you're interested in getting peace... this is how. Let her meet him and get to know him. When she asks what you do do in certain situations... tell her. It's annoying, but she just wants to be sure you'd be safe and know what to do if something happened. Once you settle her fears she'll stop asking. The same thing works for friends not just dates. When she starts going on about how she thinks they should do certain things and if she were them that's what she'd do.... Tell her, you appreciate your advice, but you don't need it at the moment... that you're just telling her things to vent or to let her know what's going on. What would really help is to ask her what she'd do in certain situations and what it was like for her at your age. It would strengthen your bond and become a more positive one if you do this. You cannot control how she reacts, but you reacting with negativity and annoyance just escalates things and makes things worse then they need to be. I'm not saying she's right. I'm just saying it's easier if you understood where she was coming from and reacting to it more positively.. because ultimately mothers just have one objective... to make sure you're safe. I imagine she doesn't want you to end up single for 21 years. I imagine she wants you to find a good man and be happy. I dont think anyone but you can decide that. Do you still think its inside you, or that it affects you in any way? Thoughts, feelings, memories, or strong emotions of the past.. Or even being totally disconnected and desensitised from what happened.. are all signs that it may still be affecting you. This doesnt mean it is, im just saying they are some signs. Other than that.. if you ever do need to go counselling, you can only go when you feel like you need it. If it affects you or disrupts your life.. otherwise going to counselling at this moment and time may prove to be pointless due to the fact that youve pulled yourself away from it.. mentally and physically. You dont know whether its affecting you or not. This is actually odd enough..normal! My eldest sister went through the same thing! Go see your doctor as soon as possible though! With everything seeming to stress you out, it could cause a miscarriage. I'm no doctor, but I highly recommend you go see yours! He/She could describe you with a safe anti-depressant (My sister had got these described) which will/should help! Other then that, get SOMEONE you feel comfortable enough with and talk to them..keep a diary &write some stuff that you are thankful for and things that make you happy! How to rid of Chemicals/Soap out of my sofa?

My roommates cat peed on my sofa (fabric). She used a pet steam cleaner to rid of the smell. It made it worse. It covered the smell did not get rid of the smell and now there is a horrible chemical smell injected into my sofa. we cant even sit on it or be in the same room. i called an upholstery cleaner where they came out to steam clean. it got rid of some but not all of the chemicals. still cant sit on the sofa. hoping for 3rd time the charm ,i tried a chemical free organic pet urine eliminator. The cat Pee is for the most part gone. but the chemical smell is still suffocating!.. someone please help ..should i steam clean the hell out of the couch with just water to try and get rid of the chemicals?

Well I was having abusive problems with my parent at home (whom didnt know I was pregnant) and was kicked out and taken in by the foster care system, after two months. well, first and foremost, try to clean him up a bit- get the mucus stuff out of his eyes. if you can get to a store, preferably a pet store, try to find this stuff called 'nutri-cal' or something similar to that. it's in a tube usually- it's basically a gel that has TONS of the vital vitamins and nutrients that small, young, malnourished kittens need- and it works especially well for the ones that won't eat. put some of the gel on your finger and have him lick it off, or just put it in his mouth- he'll slurp it down, and keep giving him formula, but you probably don't want to give him wet food unless it's mixed with dry food. i've found that wet food can give kittens reeaaalllllyyyy bad diarrhea, and the last thing you want is for him to become dehydrated. next, if you can't get him into a shelter, places like petsmart, petco, or almost any other pet store will usually take abandoned animals and care for them until they are ready to be adopted. keep a close eye on him and try to keep him warm. hope this helped =/

My first impressions of the novel the"The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini was that is was going to be a very tragic story. Before the audience even knows the protaginist name, we find out that a winder day in 1975 changed his. Right away, I predicted that Amir did something that he still regrets to this day. We find out that he has been trying to forget some secret for 26 years. After Baba's statement, "God help us all if Afghanistan ever falls into hands," I got the feeling that someone of great power was going to take over and control Afghanistan. I got the impression that Amir was jelous of Hassan. I got this impression because of when hassan points out the probelm of the plot of his story. I also got the feeling that Amir picked on Hassan because that was how he could let his anger out. Up to chapter 5 of the novel, Amir doesnt show anger to anyone else, I feel that he only feels comfortable critizing hassan because they are such good frieds. The only part I felt challenging about the novel was all of the characters names. The names sound the same in a way, that part I found a little confusing. I cannot specificall relatate any of my personal experiences to the novel, but however I can relate this novel to the novel NIGHT by Elie Wiesel. So far what I have read about the kite runner is that Amir is struggling with his past. While in the novel the night, Elie is struggling to survive the horrors of the Concentration camps. Both the novels are dealing with someone taking over their country. In the country it seems to me like the Taliban are going to takeover, and in the night it was the Germans who were in control of the Jewish. A question that I was wondering about the novel is why can Baba just accept that his son is not athletic and will not be a spectator? If I was Baba I would feel proud of my son that he was a talented reader and writer, and that sometime he might be a famous author. I also wondered why Amir is afraid to be Hassans true friend, i got the impression it was because he was a servent and didnt want people to think less of him. But i wonder is there more to that? From what I have read so far, i beleive that one of the themes of the novel will be friendship .The characters were well drawn and my heart went out to the trotting-old servant and Hassan. No one is sure of anything, certainly not their safety!

Confused about this odd situation with my dad?

Ok, I have an unusual problem with my dad. I'm a 19 year old guy, and my dad still treats me as if I were a little kid. I don't mean as in the way of over protection, but like he has babyish nicknames for me, makes silly faces and sounds and stares at me while doing them to the point where it's extremely awkward. I do have normal conversation with him (not too deep a relationship though), where he does talk normal. My parents raised me up in a baptist religion and that's what I have believed my whole entire life. I am turning 17 soon and I feel like my life has done an 180. Baby with flat area on head?

So I took my 4 month old to the doctor for her regular check up and he noticed the right side of her head in the back is kind of flat. She prefers to sleep facing to the right and I never thought anything of it until now. He said I need to have her sleep looking to the left. When she falls asleep I try to turn her head but I notice when I wake up to check on her she is back in her same old position. I won't let her sleep on her tummy at night due to SIDS and I am afraid to prop her on her side with a blanket wedged behind her for fear she may pull it over her head or turn into it and suffocate. The doctor informed me that if it doesn't improve within a month he wants to have her fitted with a cranial helmet that she will have to wear 23 hours a day. I don't want to put her through that. At 57 years, how can I go on?

I was in a 23 year abusive marriage to an alcoholic. Soon after that, I fell deeply in love with an also divorced man who has so much family issues and baggage that he cannot give me the attention I crave. How to overcome the fear of being alone in the dark...?

For the past week I have not been able to sleep. Thank god it's summer so, i still have the opportunity to sleep during the day. But, other than that I would have to go and lay with my older brother in order to feel safe enough to sleep. When I'm in the dark I get real tense but, once I close my eyes i feel suffocated. The worse thing is my brother is going to a Culinary School in Dallas and will not be back for a week. I can't just stay awake all night and sleep all day. Every time I take a breath I can't feel any oxygen getting inside. I generally take small, short breaths without realizing it, but even when I take a big, deep breath I only rarely feel any oxygen going inside my lungs. Now I feel like I'm suffocating and I have to yawn to get any oxygen at all.

Depression that never seems to end.?

I don't know what to do with myself anymore. I am not exaggerating when I say that I feel sad almost every hour of everyday. I have lost all my inspiration. It makes me sad because I use to know myself so well, but now I am not even sure who I really am anymore. I feel lost, and constantly my mind is running thoughts and memories, It is like I cant control it anymore. Its overwhelming and controls my everyday life. My sleeping schedule is horrible..it changes, but not frequently. Because of my depression, I feel as if I can't sleep...I stay awake until what seriously feels as if I am passing out. It is very painful for me since my sciatic nerve is messed up, so it tends to act up more at night, as well as my restless leg syndrome and asthma. I work full time so it makes working a drag. The past 3 months/recently I believe I cry about 4 times a week waking up, at work and before bed. I thought that it might be from my ovarian cyst but I have had them for almost 6 years and have never dealt with depression as bad as this. Since I was a child, I have dealt with depression, but have never been diagnosed due to money issues. I do believe that the depression in my past had a lot to do with the environment I grew up in and the constant everyday battles I faced with dealing with my parents who where drug users, argued everyday and neglected me at least until the age of 13 when my parents made more money(my happiness was "bought") I also used to cut myself. I fought myself so many times to try and ignore the thoughts. When I tell my parents about this, they don't seem to take me seriously. My mother puts her friends before me, and my father is extremely obsessed with my mothers absences and how it effects his life, to the point to where my problems don't exist at all. I am 19 years old...I still live in this house and giving money to my parents is hard to do, especially trying to improve and take care of myself as well. Everyday I suffer because of my emotions. I feel so miserable and almost so much so to a point of insanity. I am scared because I started to notice that I talk to myself out loud and really don't notice it until I kinda catch myself I guess. Throughout the day I feel the urge to cry several times, but mostly I end up reaching a point of what feels like major anxiety. I can feel my chest tighten, and this horrible butterfly in my stomach sensation...but not the good kind. I get really dizzy and I get migraines at least a couple times a day. I am also very insecure because of all of this. When someone looks at me on the street I tend to think they are looking at me because there is something wrong about my appearance, not that they are "checking me out." And last year, two people I got very close too betrayed me and hurt me so badly that it has now caused me some serious social anxiety outside of work. I shake a lot and it almost takes anything negative to set me off emotionally... I can't let things go....when I am upset I stay that way over the issue for a very long time...to the point of constantly beating myself up mentally...of how stupid I am or pathetic. And when I cry, sometimes I cant stop... and at times causes me to have panic attacks. I cant be around people to long other wise I feel suffocated...like I need to be alone. The thoughts in my head wont shut up....and I cant handle it...I get to high levels of stress over this, to where I throw almost a child-like tantrum, but only in private. And even when I experience laughter and smile I still feel sadness within me...its like it is eating at my insides. It makes me feel sick and want to throw up. Also I do believe this is caused, not only from home life and personal, self loafing issues, but from my complicated love life. I met someone who I am now still involved with on and off romantically about 4 years ago. He lives about 8 hours from me though. He changed my life for the better at first but over time became verbally abusive. He tells me I am pathetic and stupid and a *****, etc. when he gets mad at me and tells me how everything is my fault, but then other times he is the sweetest guy in the world and very loving. I tried moving on once, went on a date with a friend...we ended up kissing once. I told him about it recently and he called me a cheater and that I should feel ashamed (even though we are not together now and weren't when I went on that date). Ever since I have felt incredibly guilty and more depressed then before. I think about ending it all sometimes. I feel worthless. I know it is a great opportunity for artists.. my parents think im super passionate about art and am good at it (im okay) but im not passionate at all.. in 7th grade art was all i did. draw draw draw draw. but now my goal has been for 2 years to become a marine bioligist.. and going to an art school wouldnt necissarily look good on a science colledge application. Also the people there well... they have made this the 2nd worst year of my life first of all, most of the people there are either super wierd or druggies. or they are depressing "struggling artists" since the school used random kind of pick a name out of a hat way to let kids into school we are getting untalented kids who just want the easy fun school and arent there for the art. I want to leave because there are people out there, kids, who are amazing, passionate, talented artists who would LOVE the school and i am taking there place! i feel horrible. The people there will judge you for being normal. they will judge you for not being different or wierd and all that. And yes i know i will be judged at a regular highschool but at least for the right reasons! i would understand people saying oh she didnt do her makeup today or oh her hair looks a mess i dont care. At this school people say oh..SHES wearing makeup. she must be a whore then. or OH she isnt dressing artsy or shes wearing high heels what a slut. seriously? do you want me to come with dirt in my hair paint smears on my face and talk about the mystical powers of spiritual art?? you are CRAZY. I met one normal person there and find out they are talking bad about me behind my back because i forgot to wash off my makeup one night at her house?! I FORGOT. also its a small school with 89.9 percent bad influences, so news travels fast, theres always someone talking about you, everyone knows everything about everyone, and if there isnt anything to talk about they will make something up. If you do meet a normal person there they turn out to be either mean or a really bad influence, and since it is a small school theres little chance of meeting a good influence. EVERYONE IS ON DRUGS! im not exaggerating. at all.. and i have nothing against people on drugs they can be some of the nicest people you meet but they are considered "bad influences" i know there will be lots more bad influences in a normal highschool but there will also be way more good influences! the only reason my parents are keeping me in this school is because of the overall high test scores, which have gone waaaaaaaaaaaay down this year because no one is trying anymore. they think since its an art school its all fun and free and easy. I STRONGLY DISLIKE MY SCHOOL! it has made me despise life and myself... you'd think that at a school where their motto is acceptance there would be a LOT more acceptance...

Well if she does like you she is scared to admit that she may need you and if she is with you all the time it will feel like she has to rely on someone else for support. When you mainly rely on yourself to support yourself it is really hard to change and let another person control your life in a way. Your boobs will even them self's out eventually. In the mean time try different bra sizes and shapes; example: push-up bra. I'm not sure but i think their is a website for a customized bra, if you really need it. If you were on the heavier side before, I'm not really surprised this would happen. The reason bigger women have larger breasts is because of fatty build-up(gross). According to a different body type this process will always work in different ways. Am I unthankful? 10 points?

Basically, I am living a horrible life. I'm 16. I am NOT allowed to go ANYWHERE out without my parents. I have never hung out with any of my friends, I've never been to their houses, etc. I only go out with my mom like once every 3 weeks or so. I'm not even allowed to go outside and walk on my own. I've grown up with arguing parents and they're constantly fighting. I don't have ANYONE to talk to. I have friends but I'm not close with any. My dad's the root of the problem and plus, we don't really have a real relationship. I don't have cable or anything at home and I'm becoming depressed.
